KINGSTON, Tenn. - Saying he wants to be "a new voice at the table, bringing new ideas and a fresh perspective" to State Government, Harriman resident Donnie Hall, 57, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Representative (TN-32).
During the mid-day announcement on the grounds of the Jim Henry Event Center in Kingston, Hall told a group of supporters, "I am seeking the office of State Representative to make a difference in the lives of the people of Roane and Loudon Counties and to uphold the laws established by the Constitutions of Tennessee and the United States of America."
The Army and Coast Guard veteran noted, "I was raised and educated here, but I have also seen how things are done in other places."
A Harriman High School graduate and Roane State alum, Hall talked briefly on a pair of topics he stated are close to his heart.
Using the areas waterways to creat new, high-paying jobs is something he would like to help accomplish, if elected. The other topic he spoke of is the issue of elder care and how more can be done to improve how our senoirs are cared for in Tennessee.
Hall and his wife Martha own and operate Three Rivers Theatre Company, a community theatre servering rural East Tennessee. He is also head coach of Roane State's men's and women's cross country teams.
He previously worked as a safety and risk manager in the inland maritime industry for more than 20 years.
Current District 32 Representative Kent Calfee is not seeking re-election.
The Republican primary is slated for August 4, 2002.
